UN DANDY DE TODAS LAS EPOCAS
Oscar Fingal O´Flagertie Wills Wilde, nació el 10 de octubre de 1854 en Irlanda. Poeta, narrador, ensayista, escritor y dramaturgo. Estudió en la universidad de Oxford donde destacó en el estudio de los clásicos griegos. Ganó el prestigioso premio Newdigate en 1878 con su talentoso poema Rávena. Convirtió su bohemia y excelsa juventud en un estilo de vida dominada por un esteticismo más allá del decadentismo. Su carácter fue excéntrico, innovador ( llevaba el cabello largo, andaba con un girasol en la mano, vestía con pantalones de montar de terciopelo, sus ternos y gabanes de fino y único corte inglés). Por su inagotable talento y genio de vida, se llenó de admiradores dentro y fuera de la sociedad inglesa. Hasta en la corte de la Reina Victoria se hablaba de él. Su primer libro fue Poemas (1881) su única novela El Retrato de Dorian Gray y su primera obra teatral Vera y los Nihilistas. Viajó a Norteamérica y dió expectantes conferencias por New York. Luego regresó a Londres casándose con una mujer noble muy rica, llamada Constance Mary Lloyd, con la que tuvo dos hijos Vivyan y Cyrill. Como amante e idólatra de la belleza pura, declina paulatinamente en su sexualidad para verse envuelto en una tormentosa amistad con un joven aristócrata llamado Lord Alfred Douglas, quien será luego el causante de su declive moral y espiritual, logrando de esta forma escandalizar a la puritana clase de la era Victoriana, pues, de pronto se vió involucrado en tres juicios en los que se cuestionó su conducta homosexual. Fue acusado por el Marqués de Queensberry del abominable pecado de sodomía, declarándosele culpable en el más sonado y cuestionado juicio, en mayo de 1895 y, condenado a dos años de trabajos forzados en la prisión de Reading. En consecuencia, matrimonio fue disuelto y sus hijos llevados fuera de él. Fue declarado en bancarrota, su casa y bienes subastados. Salió de prisión en 1897, como un mártir acabado y arruinado económicamente. Siendo la sociedad, aún más culpable de su ruina social y moral. Pasó en lo que quedó de su vida, en París Francia, identificándose con el peculiar nombre de Sebastian Melmoth. Se convirtió al cristianismo antes de morir de meningitis cerebral, el 30 de noviembre de 1900.

For his inexhaustible talent and genius of life, it filled with admirers inside and out of the English society. Up to in the court of the Queen Victory was speaking itself of him. His first book was Poems (1881) his only novel Dorian Gray's Portrait and his first theatrical work Side and the Nihilists.
He travelled to North America and gave expectant conferences for New York. Then he returned to London marrying a noble very rich woman, called Constance Mary Lloyd, the one that had two children Vivyan and Cyrill. As lover and idolater of the pure beauty, he declines gradually in his sexuality for turn involved in a stormy friendship with a young aristocrat called Lord Alfred Douglas, who will be then the causer of his moral and spiritual declivity, managing of this form to scandalize to the Puritan class of the Victorian age, so, suddenly one saw involved in three judgments in which his homosexual conduct questioned.

In consequence, marriage was disuelto and his children taken out of him. It was declared in bankruptcy, his house and auctioned goods. he went out of prison in 1897, as a martyr finished and ruined economically. Being the society, furthermore(moreover) culprit of his social and moral ruin. He happened in what stayed of his life, in Paris France, identifying with Sebastian Melmoth's peculiar name. It turned to the christianity before dying of cerebral meningitis, on November 30, 1900.
